Thanks to Threewalls for the RaD Fellowship! Here’s a short video on how this fellowship will support my project. Clay as a Conduit to Building community in Little Village. Stay tune. More to come soon. About the Project: Neighborhood: Little Village Racial Justice Issue: Environmental Racism I will focus on environmental racism, as a way to make visible the unseen injustices that continue to happen in the Little Village neighborhood and its residents through decades of institutionalized and systemic racism. These injustices happen more often in Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and Immigrant communities. I will use clay as the conduit for gathering and healing the community through conversations, shared knowledge, and participatory workshops centering La Villita neighborhood. I hope to capture and archive the stories of longtime residents; advocating and highlighting the immigrant experience all shaped in a vessel that stores and protects these narratives. If you are interested in participating please reach out at salvadorjimenezart@gmail.com
